Connecting Jandy equipment
Jandy runs everything on one four-pin bus, and colour-codes the choice: a red four-pin connector for RS-485, a green terminal bar for dry contacts. Pins 2 and 3 — black and yellow — carry the data on every device in the range.

Jandy VSFloPro Pumps
Four-wire RS-485, but the pump's own local controller has to come off first — it and an automation system cannot both own the bus.
Jandy ePump / VS Plus Pumps
Pins 2 and 3 of the supplied Jandy cable — black and yellow — are the data pair. The red and green outers are power the pump does not need.
Jandy JXi, JXiQ, JRT and JE Heaters and Heat Pumps
RS-485 on the red connector reports faults; the green terminal bar's dry contact only says on or off. Covers both and why the first is worth the extra pair.
Jandy AquaPure / TruClear Salt Water Chlorine Generator
The one Jandy device that needs the bus energised before it will talk — and the iSmart Module has no rail to energise it with.
Jandy 4-Function Spa Side Remote
Momentary switches, not a bus. Read this before quoting one: the relay board has no switch inputs at all.
Jandy SpaLink RS 8-Function Spa Side Remote
The eight-button remote carries its own board and speaks RS-485, so it lands on a PORT like any other Jandy device.
