Connecting Hayward equipment
Hayward equipment reaches the iSmart Module two ways. Variable-speed pumps and the AquaRite S3 speak RS-485, each on its own PORT terminal. Universal H-Series heaters have no bus at all and run from a dry contact instead.

TriStar, MaxFlo and Super Pump — RS-485 wiring
Land the pump's A, B and COM on a PORT terminal, set the address dip switches, and confirm the link. Includes the one-device-per-PORT rule.
Hayward Universal H-Series Heaters
Hayward Universal H-Series heaters are controlled using dry contact / fireman switch connections.
AquaRite S3 — RS-485 connection
Salt chlorination over the same three-wire bus as the pumps. Covers the four-pin connector, the +12 V pin to leave alone, and where the S3 overlaps the module.
Hayward AquaRite (Legacy) Salt Water Chlorine Generator
Pre-S3 AquaRite units need Hayward's communication board, and that board needs 12 V supplied to it before it will talk. The iSmart Module does not provide it.
