MOOV

Moov VSP Pumps

Moov brings everything out on a single seven-pin connector supplied with the pump: four digital inputs, a common, and a Modbus RS-485 pair. Use the pair.

The seven-pin connector

Moov supplies the communication cable with the pump. Use it rather than making one up — the pump end is moulded, and the conductor colours are what identify the functions at the far end. Cut back and terminate anything you do not use.

The seven-pin connector, from Moov's manual. Digital inputs are plain closures to the common on pin 5 — no supply voltage is involved.
The Moov seven-pin connector: four digital inputs and a common on pins 1 to 5, and the Modbus RS-485 pair on pins 6 and 7.
One connector, two ways in. Use the pair on pins 6 and 7 wherever you can.
Moov pin 6 (green, RS485-A) to PORT terminal A and pin 7 (brown, RS485-B) to PORT terminal B, with pins 1 to 5 cut back and the PORT's G terminal unused.
Two conductors end to end. Modbus is a two-wire pair here, so G stays empty.

Digital inputs, if you use them

InputColourEffect while closed to COM
Digital Input 1GreyPump forced to stop
Digital Input 2WhiteRun at 100%
Digital Input 3BlackRun at 80%
Digital Input 4RedRun at 40%
Each input is asserted by closing it to the common on pin 5. The capacities behind inputs 2, 3 and 4 can be changed in the pump's parameter settings.
The module's four dry contacts driving Moov digital inputs 1 to 4, all returning through the yellow common on pin 5.
Four contacts and one common return. Every dry output on the module is consumed.

Releasing an input returns control to the panel rather than to the bus, so digital inputs are best treated as an override, not a control strategy.

Cable

  • Use the supplied cable where the run allows it.
  • If extending, keep green and brown as one twisted pair in shielded cable.
  • Ground the shield at the iSmart Module end only.
  • Keep it out of conduit shared with the pump's power wiring.

When it does not respond

SymptomWhere to look first
Modbus commands ignoredA digital input is closed to common somewhere.
No communication at allSwap green and brown, then check address and serial settings.
Runs at a fixed speedAn input is asserted — the pump is obeying it, not you.
Returns to panel control unexpectedlyAn input was released; control falls back to the panel, not the bus.
