Madimack Heat Pumps
The InverELITE, InverECO and InverTITAN ranges connect over RS-485 alongside the rest of the Madimack line. The wiring is the straightforward part; the decisions worth making deliberately are about who owns the water setpoint.
Models this covers
- InverELITE 084 and 1100
- InverECO 320, 400, 500 and 600
- InverTITAN 090, 112 and 140
The connection
Madimack uses Modbus RTU across its range, with the bus brought out as an A and B pair. Land those on a PORT.
| Madimack | iSmart Module |
|---|---|
| RS485-A | PORT terminal A |
| RS485-B | PORT terminal B |
- 22-24 AWG shielded, with A and B as one twisted pair.
- Ground the shield at the iSmart Module end only.
- Keep the run clear of the compressor and fan wiring, which is the noisiest part of the unit.
Who owns the setpoint
A heat pump regulates to its own water setpoint and runs its own defrost and protection logic. The module should be deciding when the unit is allowed to run and what temperature is wanted — not duplicating the unit's internal protection. Decide at commissioning whether the setpoint lives in the app or on the unit, and configure one of them to follow the other.
When it does not respond
| Symptom | Where to look first |
|---|---|
| No communication | Swap A and B, then confirm the unit actually exposes RS-485 without an adapter. |
| Starts late every time | Compressor restart delay. Normal. |
| Runs but never reaches setpoint | Ambient conditions and water flow rather than the control link. |
| Communication drops when it runs | Bus routed alongside compressor or fan wiring. |
